Dr. Hodges was raised on a farm in the small town of Yanceyville, North Carolina. He was exposed to every type of animal imaginable, from wildlife to livestock. Between working with the animals on the farm and at the local animal shelter, it became obvious that animal care would become his career path.
Dr. Hodges attended North Carolina State University for his undergraduate studies where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and minored in Biological science. During this time, Dr. Hodges worked at a variety of veterinary hospitals to gain diverse experience in the field. He gained admittance to NCSU’s College of Veterinary medicine where he developed and honed his clinical skills. He practiced out in Knightdale for a year before accepting a position at a veterinary hospital in Cary to be closer to home. He has also worked part time as an emergency clinician at an ER clinic in Cary. Dr. Hodges recently acquired ownership of Carpenter Animal Hospital, fulfilling one of his life dreams.
Dr. Hodges lives with his wife, Elaine, and sons, Caleb and Liam, in Cary with their 3 dogs and 3 cats (Gracie, Milo, Moose, Kahlua, Gonzo, and Gizmo). All of his animals are rescued. He enjoys gardening, travel, and swimming in his free time.
While Dr. Hodges is well versed in all aspects of veterinary medicine, he has a special interest in surgery, dentistry, and internal medicine. He enjoys the variety of cases that being a general practitioner allows him. He will also be offering services for exotic/pocket pets, including ferrets, rabbits, and rodents. One of his biggest passions continues to be working with rescue animals and hopes that becoming a practice owner will allow him to increase his contribution to this mission.
Dr. Hodges places highest priority on patient care and client satisfaction, and he is excited to serve your veterinary medical needs. He invites you to stop by anytime for a meet and greet so you can feel comfortable that you and your pet are in good hands!
